Toris Gray and The Dragon Of The East
Written by Toris Gray
1. The Village
In the late 1920 Xaipan was the least from the peaceful places in the world. Many of various bandits were after gold and silver, stealed from Nipponese trains, which wander in huge numbers through Xaipan.
Empire of Nippon, one from the most huge politicians in the whole East had not many potential enemies. Except lone bandits and Xaipan brigands, who wanted to make Xaipan independent, out of Nipponese territorial claim.
One of these bandits was Ji-Bei, titled Inflamed, because of his Alchemist's powers of element of fire. In fact, many of Nipponese soldiers were affraid of him, or of many legends about him. He was - in legend - nearly immune for gunfire and any other weapons.
Actually, Ji-Bei was on road to village Hi-Tao-Po, one from the most old villages in Xaipan, because there one of his most loyal agents waited for him. Ji-Bei were everywhere and everytime, because he has a lot of his agents around whole country. He had need to know what is going on around the world. That was said, that he had agents deep even into Shiko and Nippon, what could be just unbeliveable. But what if he had them? He never told that and no one found these agents.
In the meantime, one of very eager and excited younglings, Toris Gray, who came from the far, far west, somewhere farther than Rusland were, was on his way to Hi-Tao-Po too. This young gray fox was an archeologist, in fact, everyone called him tomb raider. In these red eyes of him you could see the flame of young spirit. He always been on for adventure. In fact, he never left occasion of one of these, even if was dangerous and risky.
After lone venture to Hi-Tao-Po, the gray fox arrived into the village. At last. After many miles of endless stepps and sands of deserts.
Hi-Tao-Po was one from the larger villages in these regions. In fact, less popular too, due to lots of bandits and criminal scums from all Xaipan. Fortunetly, there were hard laws, which forbids to thievery and attacking newcomers, because major gangs knew that, they will not survive if they will fight. Hi-Tao-Po had huge black market - and it was main reason of setting this village as neutral zone between thugs. On that market many things were able to sell or buy. All, even forbidden, out of usual thug range, or too exotic to buy on a normal market.
Toris Gray had head here, because of that, he heard about map, which could be the tip to his long-lasted search. The search were after one of the most famous - and legendary - artefact, called The Red Eye Of Dragon. This one could be good item for Gray's collection. Or - as he had many situations like this - deadly and powerful artifact, which had be to be destroyed.
The fox had many thoughts about this artifact, due to that he really wanted to find it. Even, he was from Empire of Queen Elizabeth, most powerful country with many of colonies around the world, he was not steady, as he could be as Imperial. In his vains, he had a lot of Gallic blood, which made him very short-tempered and nervous. Even he knew, how to behave in most usual situations, expectialy, if ladies were on the sight.
He was not that young, he just born in 1900 and already, after two years of studies, worked outside the university. In fact, he chosen that because he was previously kicked from school for not really good behaviours, but, after his success - which was dose of lots of luck - he was welcomed warmly in the walls of the school.
Toris was handsome. At least, for his female class-mates from the university. But he never really looked for any fun with ladies, but even if he did, not in official way. He did not shown that. He was just 175 of height, slim and well-trained for works, which needed to use a lot dexternity and acrobatic affairs. That is needless to say, he had the highest scores in many of acrobatic classes and contests. Also, he was really smart, even he did not knew about many things, he filled it with his creative mind.
The fox stood in front of small shop. He felt that is the place, where he could find a map. He looked around and he saw many of peoples, who was in most examples the thugs, assassins and bandits from all around the Xaipan. He noticed a lot of cold as ice glares, which were gazing from eyes of these scums. Toris did not been affraid, but he felt something is wrong with them. A lot of. He looked at the shopkeeper and walked into the shop.
"Welcome" said warm voice of old, black wolf.
"Hello there" replied Gray. He looked at these nearly awesome assortiment of the small shop. A lot of strange - even for him - things was here to find. Old-fashioned lamps, weapons and other of many things. "Do you have any old map?"
"The map?" the wolf asked. "No, I don't think so. But I am not sure too. Give me a second, young lord." said old male and dissapeared in the door. After few moments, he appeared again with piece of paper. "Do you... Mean something like that?"
"Oh yes!" Said Toris really loud with a bit of eager scream. "This could be that I may think! How much it would be cost?"
"For me? It is just a piece of needless paper for me. But, I may sell it for 2 coins, as usual piece of paper. Do you like the price, young lord?" Shopkeeper said with smile, as usual old-man.
"Sure..." Toris picked two silver coins from his bag and given to the old wolf.
"Here you go." The shopkeeper said and already given the map, but an huge sound of breaking doors just did. Both of them looked at the place, where doors was a moment ago. As Toris saw, these were three thugs from local gang. They were from Nipponese mafia, the Yakuza.
"Excuse me..." Said one of them - maybe a leader - in Imperial language. "But this map is mine now. If you don't agree with me, mere foxy, you will be dead."
Gray looked at the leader of the bandits, then smiled. This thug was nonetheless but white cheetah, with some scars on his face. Other of bandits were tiger and wolf, both armed in old-fashion rifles. Toris put one hand on his pistol - Mauser, a Rheinland made weapon - which was behind his back, yet unseen by thugs.
"We may still negotiate about that, sir..." Said gray fox slowly with steady face.
"We may not. Leave the place, now!" Replied annoyed thug leader with slight growl.
Toris Gray though 'God dammit, I'm not in really easy situation. Three with rifles on one with one gun. That's not really good...' After that, he was close to put the second hand of another gun. His adrenaline was pumped with high speed by blood in his vains. "Easy" said fox. "We don't want any hot action, do we?"
